If you love reading and discussing books, a book group offers a great opportunity for you to do this and to form new friendships at the same time.
Sign up with one of the Book Group Coordinators at the monthly meeting, and your name will be placed on a wait-list. Once there are enough people who have expressed an interest, a new book group will be formed. A book group typically consists of eight to ten members who usually gather in an agreed upon location or one anothers’ homes each month to discuss selected books. Because quite a number of Newcomers go travelling or have other commitments, the number in attendance can fluctuate. In fact, it is unusual to have every member in attendance, which is why eight to ten members seems to be optimal.
The expectation is that the members of the various book groups will make decisions collectively with respect to the timing, location, and the format their meetings will take. The selection of reading materials is also up to each book group. The only rules are the ones upon which each groups’ members agree! Every book group is independent of the Newcomers’ Club, and we hope you spend many years with your new friends exploring books together.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Book Group Coordinators.
