WELCOME TO QUALICUM BEACH AREA NEWCOMERS CLUB

Our purpose is to help newcomers to the Oceanside area meet people, make new friends, and find meaningful ways to engage with the community.  We do this through monthly meetings, organized social events, and regular activities such as walking, golfing, art, book groups, and more. Please see the links at the top of the page for more information.

Our regular monthly meetings are held at 10:00 am on the second Tuesday of each month, at St. Stephen’s United Church, 150 Village Way, Qualicum Beach.  Each month we have speakers, door prizes, opportunities to sign up for activities and events.  This is a wonderful chance to meet fellow newcomers.  Come check us out – everyone is welcome!

Active members can access the Events and Activities by attending monthly meetings or through the links at the top of the page.

MEETING SCHEDULE:

Starting time: 10 am

St. Stephen’s United Church

150 Village Way, Qualicum Beach

June 10, 2025 July 8, 2025 August 12, 2025
Speakers:

Heather Fraiser – Oceanside Hospice Society

Hospice societies offer emotional, social, practical, spiritual, grief and bereavement support and care, to enhance quality of life and maintain dignity for those living with, or affected by, life-limiting illness or death. Their goal is to help people understand and adjust to their situation by offering supportive programs and resources with the compassionate care of our staff and volunteers.

Shianne – Cycle of Life Tour (COLT)

A 2-day, 200 km bike ride from Victoria to Salt Spring and back, happening July 19–20. Their team has 12 riders this year.  They’re especially looking to recruit “Virtual Riders” for the team – people who ride 250 km on their own time and raise at least $250 for Hospice. This year marks Hospice’s 35th anniversary, and they’re hoping to get 35 virtual riders on board.

Speaker:

Robin Fisher – Mid Island Elder College

Mid Island Elder College offers short, low-cost, general interest courses on a wide range of subjects – academic, arts-related, lifestyle, hobbies, current affairs… you name it! –  to mature adults. We also convene a public lecture series on a timely and compelling theme, usually over a number of Saturdays. All our activities are inspired by the desire to share ideas and skills amongst like-minded souls.
